Yes, you need to complete another fingerprinting appointment. Unfortunately, we cannot share fingerprinting information between different parties. Depending on your site assignment it is possible to have 1 - 2 additional fingerprinting appointments. For example, if you are placed in D.C you will be required to complete fingerprinting to meet the National Service Criminal History Checks requirements and D.C. Public Schools requirements.
Please immediately replace your social security card through the Social Security Administration. Find the best way to replace your social security card here. This also applies to other missing identification required to complete the National Service Criminal History Checks.
Please immediately take steps to replace your missing identification. Failure to upload your identification may result in your offer being rescinded.
GO Tutor Corps conducts service in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Massachusetts.
AmeriCorps members receive a modest living allowance, which varies based on your service term (full-time, three-quarter time, or half-time). This stipend is determined by AmeriCorps standards and is funded by Congress. We’re here to help you understand the stipend and how to effectively manage it. If you have questions about budgeting during your AmeriCorps service, please contact Nora Corrigan.
Yes, the AmeriCorps living allowance is considered taxable income. Taxes are determined based on federal, state, and local tax rates as well as personal information including marital status, dependents and withholdings. We can provide some general guidance on how this will impact your take home pay.
The housing stipend is given to full time Fellows in non-GO schools who opted out of housing by 5/31/25. The stipend is an additional $9,000 of taxable income added to your paycheck, paid out over the service term. GO Legacy (Newark, NJ), GO-NYC and GO- Bridgeport do not qualify for this stipend.
Full-time Fellows receive up to 8 PTO days during the school year, as well as up to 3 bereavement days per instance. Three-quarter-time Fellows receive 6 PTO days, and half-year Fellows receive 4 PTO days. PTO can be used for sick days, vacation, mental health days, or personal time. This is in addition to all holidays and vacation weeks listed on your school calendar. Please note: Taking PTO may result in missed hours that you’ll likely need to make up to meet your program requirements.
You can start the benefits process when you start service. You should not sign up for SNAP or apply for health insurance until service has started.
Housing will be shared on the site-specific housing page as they become available. However, please note that visiting your assigned housing or school site prior to the start of service is not allowed, as it may distrupt current Fellows and staff who are actively serving.
Please refer to the move-in/packing list for guidance. If you opt in to housing, keep in mind that these are shared spaces with limited storage- pack only the essentials. Large furniture is not permitted, and excessive belongings may not fit or could impact shared comfort.
Regardless of your housing situation, we recommend bringing business casual options and weather-appropriate clothing. Be sure to pack a warm coat and other cold-weather gear for winter months.
