Mentorship Program

Just as you offer valuable mentorship to your scholars, we’re excited to offer the same support to you. Throughout your service, you’ll have the opportunity to be paired with a mentor who aligns with your career interests. Whether you’re considering a path as a teacher, social worker, librarian, or another profession, we’ll connect you with experienced professionals in our network. 

Teacher Residency 

The Teacher Residency program can be your pathway to classroom teaching. The program was designed to go hand in hand with the GO Fellowship experience. Offered exclusively to GO Fellows and staff members at GO schools, the residency is a site based embedded teaching apprenticeship that provides participants with on-the-job mentoring, their teaching certificate, and the Master of Arts in Teaching. 

GO is building a diverse workforce of teachers who are fueled by transformational relationships with students, equipped for culturally responsive teaching, and committed to continual development of their practice. Learn more about it here. 

Second Year of Service

Many Fellows come back for a second year as service as a Fellow lead or simply to do a second year. Fellow leads get additional incentives such as higher pay and single rooms in housing. Fellows are able to recieve a second Segal Education Award if they do an additional year.

Schools of National Service

Schools of National Service recognize that individuals who serve in AmeriCorps bring tremendous value to higher education and other post-secondary experiences. These schools provide benefits to students who choose to serve. For example: 

• Tuition matching for the Segal Education Award 

• Scholarship or fellowship to AmeriCorps alumni 

• Priority points for admission consideration for AmeriCorps alumni

• In state tuition for AmeriCorps alumni 

• Ect.

Employers of National Service

Employers of National Service connects AmeriCorps alumni with employers from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. National service alumni are strong leaders who are motivated, flexible, innovative, and outcome oriented.
